Trend report – NYFW
It was like Christmas in September for the world’s top fashionistas as they flocked en masse to the Lincoln Centre’s Damrosch Park for one of the biggest events on their 2011 calendar, New York Spring Fashion Week. We’ve got everything you need to know about what’s hot and what’s not for the season ahead fresh from the runway.
The Badgley Mischka SS12 show certainly turned heads not only for the beautiful pastel hues but also for the multi-textured up-dos. Runway stylist Peter Gray from Moroccanoil created dramatic, voluminous up-dos inspired by the volume and shapes of sculptor Umberto Boccioni – coupled with the flowing curly texture of Elizabeth Taylor’s hair. The glamorous look featured cascades of luminous curls in a graceful triangular shape, resting on a smooth, sculptural foundation of a bold French twist.
Peter said: “This look is all about the preparation of the hair; I used cocktails of Moroccanoil products to create the shape and movement and to make sure the hair stayed healthy, smooth, and well-conditioned throughout the styling process. It was important that the hair looked sexy, well cared for and shiny on the runway.”
Products used: Moroccanoil Treatment, Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream, Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray, Moroccanoil Frizz Control
Get the look:
- Apply Moroccanoil Frizz Control and Hydrating Styling Cream to dampened hair.
- Bump up the volume by spraying Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to the root and blow-dry each section with round brush.
- Backcomb the hair and turn it into a French Twist, pinning in place from the nape to the crown.
- Create classic roller set using a ¾ iron, meticulously pinning each curl section by section and allow curls to set.
- Release and loosely brush hair for a smoother texture and then backcomb each section to create a large mass of hair.
- Twist, fold and sculpt all the hair into a flowing triangular shape and then bring to the crown area and secure into a smoothed French twist. Spray the whole look once more with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray for a hold that looks soft, flowing and natural.
