Rise Up

RISE UP.  THE SWEET HARMONICS OF COLOUR.
It’s not just green that is colour du jour for those eco-chic warriors at Aveda. Entries are now open for the 6th Australasian Aveda Colour Harmony Award. Unique in the crowded world of hair competitions, Colour Harmony honours creativity, technical skill, vision and the holistic connection between hair colour and makeup that best reflects current style directions and an editorial resonance.

culture, as the magazine of choice for the As, Bs and aspirationals within the hairdressing industry has joined Aveda as Media Partner for the 2010 event and we are thrilled that Colour Harmony 2010 promises to nurture and support those hairdressers who aspire to a high level of peer and consumer recognition.

Australia’s top finalist entries will be judged anonymously by an international panel of judges including: Antoinette Beenders, Vice President Global Creative Director, Aveda; Rudy Miles, Global Educator Make-up, Aveda; Ian Michael Black, Technical Director, Aveda Academy, London; Jo Mckay, Technical Educator Aveda Europe and Jenny Burns, Editor-in-chief of culture with the winners announced at the Colour Harmony Award celebration event held over Hair Expo long weekend in June.

On this page we reprise the 2009 event where the major prize was taken out by Sankara (hair) and Carissa Buckley (makeup) for Sydney’s Lucespace. German born Sankara has specialised in Aveda colour for decades, and was trained under David Adams, global Technical Director. In 1998 Sankara was the first Aveda certified colour educator outside the USA and in 2002 and 2005 was nominated global colourist of the year.

The prize pool for 2010 includes an overseas trip for the hair colourist to an Aveda international event including airfare and accommodation and exclusive photo shoot by culture magazine to appear in the 2011 Yearbook. The makeup artist will receive a professional Aveda makeup kit.
