CULTURE LOVES. THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED.
Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore…We all know about the yellow brick road – it lead Dorothy to the emerald city. And as Dorothy discovered, sometimes what glitters is not always gold. But one thing we do know to be truly golden is this: there are many and varied heroes in the culture crosshairs right now.
What a time to be animated. In the world of hair fashion here in our very own land of Oz, we’re bursting with achievement. Industry heroes who have been paving their own pathways to glory.
Isn’t it always the truth that those who are true to themselves always enjoy a glorious pay-off? In recent weeks we have witnessed the crowning of genuine stars in the realm of colour, styling and pure hair fashion class. We speak here of the L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy, Wella Professionals Trend Vision, Aveda Colour Harmony, Goldwell Color Zoom… and of course the big daddy of them all, the Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards.
We also rejoice at other champions who go their own way; those who swim against the tide – not only in hair, fashion and beauty, but also in culture, business, even politics (including Australia’s bright new PM Julia Gillard). All it takes is a dream combined with intent. Maybe even a little courage of your convictions.
Even Dorothy’s cowardly lion found courage!
“What makes a king out of a slave? Courage! What makes the flag on the mast to wave? Courage! What makes the elephant charge his tusk in the misty mist, or the dusky dusk? What makes the muskrat guard his musk? Courage! What makes the sphinx the seventh wonder? Courage!”
After all, what have they got that you ain’t?

It’s all in the brows.
Eyebrows are a major facial feature. Depending on the shape and angle, brows can transform an expression from surprised to angry in a mere nanosecond.

Wild and Whimsical.
Heralding its much anticipated return to Hair Expo for 2010 in true style, L’Oréal Professionnel’s Saturday Night Opening Gala was a true spectacle to behold. Setting the precedent for what was to become a catalogue of creativity and couture across the Hair Expo long weekend, the show took inspiration from far reaching places and brought it to Sydney with a unique flourish. Class of 2010.
