Style Gurus On Cloud 9

Styling up a storm at RAFW, the L'Oréal Professionnel team backed up the brilliance nine times... producing countless glam ‘dos across the week.

For Nicola Finetti, Caterina Di Biase worked a raw edge with glitzy glamour influences. "It has a dry raw texture, almost similar to a tortured mannequin head!" said Caterina. "The hair has a street edge to attract a young clientele, however the hair look is opposite to the clothes - soft and rounded with feminine edges."

Barney Martin worked his magic at Lee Mathews and created a look that was "a dishevelled, pulled through the bushes" look with big texture. Barney's inspiration behind his styles was an ethereal beauty with a Ned Kelly twist - bushy and twiggy, natural yet sophisticated. Barney also directed hair at Karla Spetic, where his major inspiration was Futurism. Barney, a L'Oréal Professionnel supreme session stylist, created voluminous but sleek hair that was pulled up high off the neck in a futuristic, conical shape.

At Anna Thomas, hair director Alan White's beautiful creations were a modern take on a classic French twist. "Mixing textures and keeping the hair tight to the head, keeps it modern. It was a texture clash - a natural classic look with a modern twist," said Alan. The man also worked his

coiffure magic at FrisoniFinetti, where he created lines that were tribal with a modern sleekness and shine. An Indian topknot and a stripe at the back of the head best represented the tribal influence for these urban males.

Ginger & Smart also saw Alan White directing hair, where he underpinned the labels' relaxed line with the beauty of the traveler; sporting natural, sexy, slightly dishevelled and effortless hair - yet keeping the wave and body of the hair natural and full. Alan White completed his busy week for L'Oréal Profesionnel with hair direction at Tina Kalivas, with the hair draped behind the shoulders in typical "freshly-washed, just-brushed" fashion. "These girls, wide-eyed and impressionable, breezed down the runway proudly with their long, free-flowing, flyaway hair," exclaimed Alan.

At Arnsdorf, hair director L'Oréal Professionnel's Mark Thompson insisted that the look for the collection had to be about beautiful, healthy looking hair. "Clean, smooth and shiny hair is essential. The look and feel is youthful, airy, light and wearable."

Finally, hair director Michael Brennan conjured up the 17th Century at Cohen et Sabine... ethereal, floaty hair with lots of movement and plenty of airy volume. The hair appeared mystical and feminine with an edgy appeal, perfectly in tune with the whimsical femininity of the collection.
