Youth Culture Reigns Supreme

High fashion labels Stretsis, Trimapee, Flamingo Sands and Nicholas Morley put in the call to Kevin Murphy and his creative band to direct the hair for their highly anticipated shows.

In typical Murphy style, surf and street culture lived large through his cool and quirky vision. For Kevin, hair should always be about reality, and he channels alternative global cultures to arrive at styles that marry and complete future fashion as manifested by these edgy designers.

Shirt dresses and pretty frocks were matched to oh-so-sexy loose waves and long texture, where the more youth oriented labels went down a rock-chick-meets-Rasta road.

Supremo session stylist David Glover was on hand to work his magic with the Kevin.Murphy team.  For Nicholas Morley, David says the look was about channelling 80s band Haisy Fantaisy.

"We wanted to do something that was more ‘ropey'... sort of like a soft dreadlock," explains David.  "The technique in the 80s was a method of perming called a ‘sticky tape perm', and it basically gave you dreadlocks."
